Election and the days following a Twitter reaction


After nearly a year and a half of campaigning, debates and political attacks the 2019 Kentucky Gubernatorial Election is over but there are still many questions.

Many people took to Twitter to voice their opinions, encourage others to vote and offer congratulations.

Here is a look at Election Day and the days following as the candidates, public figures and constituents reacted to the close race.

Candidate Reactions to Election Day:

Both candidates kicked off the morning by encouraging constitutions to vote before heading to the polls to cast their own ballot.

At the end of the night Governor-Elect Andy Beshear tweeted a “Thank you” to his supporters. Governor Matt Bevin has not returned to twitter since Nov. 5 but has requested a recanvassing. The Twitter for the Governor Matt Bevin’s office has remained active.

Media Reactions:

Around 8 p.m. major media outlets began to declare Governor-Elect Andy Beshear the winner but at this time the Associated Press has said the race is too close to call.

Political Reactions:

The president and a couple presidential candidates took to Twitter to react to Kentucky’s election and what the results could mean. The day before the election President Trump visited Lexington, Kentucky to do some last minute campaigning for Governor Bevin.

The Next Day:

The next day Governor-Elect Andy Beshear spoke at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville where he announced the leader of his transition team and his “day one” plans. Later in the day Governor Matt Bevin announced he would be requesting a recanvassing.

Today:

Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton spoke out for the first time since the election.

Governor-Elect Andy Beshear is set to be sworn into office on Dec. 10.
